Thunderbird Lodge

The Colorado Mountain Ranch has been a respite for Boulder County children for over 65 years, providing an environment for fun, creativity, education, and adventure to flourish.  Once known as Trojan Ranch, the Colorado Mountain Ranch has continued to be the leading summer day camp and is looking to expand what it can contribute to the community.  After the Four Mile Canyon Fire devastated the Colorado Mountain Ranch in 2010, rebuilding has been on the forefront of many people’s minds.  The vision to rebuild came with the determination to grow.

 

The first major project was to reconstruct the lost barn to facilitate the large horse program hosted during summer season. A stronger sense of community flourished and relationships strengthened with locals, volunteers, and workers from assisting companies. Solar Glass Company came into the picture as a main provider of windows for the new barn. The weeks and months which went into the project gave prime opportunity to bond which inspired Solar Glass and their employees to want to be a part of more growth and metamorphosis projects for the Ranch. 

 

Thus the idea for the Thunderbird Lodge came into being. This multi-use indoor facility would allow for the growth of The Colorado Mountain Ranch as well as benefitting the children who attend the summer programs.

 

 The Thunderbird Lodge would provide space for the gymnastics program, theater and music, as well as conference space and an extension of the challenge team building course.  The creation of the Learning Lodge would launch The Colorado Mountain Ranch into its next phase of growth, offering year round programs.

 

The Thunderbird Lodge is more than a building, just as The Colorado Mountain Ranch is more than a summer camp.  Creating a space for children to learn and grow is more than a physical building, it is a place that holds endless possibilities in the ways it can impact the future.
